Manage recruitment, selection and induction activities effectively, efficiently, lawfully and professionally.
Undertake and evaluate long- and short-term talent planning and succession planning exercises with a view to building long-term organisational performance.
Gather, analyse and use information on employee turnover as the basis for developing robust staff retention strategies.
Manage retirement, redundancy and dismissal practices fairly, efficiently and in accordance with the expectations of the law, ethical and professional practice.
Undertake critical analysis and reach reasoned and evidenced decisions, contribute problem-solving skills to find and innovate in solutions

You work as an international HR manager for Costco, a membership warehouse with a strong footprint in the USA, Canada and the UK especially. The organisation has opened some warehouses in Europe and is planning to further this expansion over the next 10 years. As international HR manager you have been tasked to consider the following and report back to head office:
It is essential to be sharing the skills and abilities that are present in different countries. Critically evaluate the reasons why difficulties may occur in ensuring effective sharing of skills and knowledge between Canada, USA, UK and mainland Europe and how these can be overcome (800 words) (10 marks) (LO1)
The European HR department will be responsible for managing HR policies and practices within the EU. Consider what policies the organisation may need to develop and what these will need to include with regards to:

4. As the organisation continues to expand and its workforce ages with it, the CEO is concerned that greater consideration needs to be given to the management of retirement across all locations. You are tasked to consider the organisation’s overall strategy with regards to managing retirement and to make recommendations to provide solutions to enable the organisation to compassionately manage retirements whilst having an effective succession planning process in place across all location (1,600 words) (40 marks) (LO6 and LO7)
