ECO501: Business Economics Analysis & Forecasting
A case study tells what happened to and in a business over time. Case studies allow you to learn about real-world organizational problems and how they can be addressed. They challenge and develop your problem-solving abilities. This assignment will enable you to develop your ability to critique practice, research data, evaluate a business and present the findings in a case study format and in PPT format.
Covered Learning Outcomes:
Based on the learning outcomes as specified in the module handbook; at the end of the assessment you should be able to:
Present quantitative information in a clear simple and informative format in order to facilitate forecasting.
Interpret economic data and analyze quantitative and/or qualitative information to assess business situations and make informed business decisions while assessing possible impacts.
What is required?
ECO501: Business Economics Analysis & Forecasting
You are required to write 3500 words and conduct a PPT about the following:
1- You will need to choose a business and present the data collected related to a variety of economic phenomena including the interaction of demand and supply in the marketplace, pricing and other economic information, then critically analyse them.
2- Identify the economic environment and problems facing the sector in which the business operates, and analyze the business’s internal and external environment.
3- Critically analyze the factors that have affected the performance of the business, as well as the “key success factors” for a company operating in the sector.
4- Apply the appropriate economic tools to conduct a meaningful analysis of the business economics conditions in a professional ethical context.
5- Present quantitative information in a clear simple and informative format in order to facilitate forecasting.
6- You will need to use regression analysis to predict the value of a dependent variable based on an independent variable, and evaluate the assumptions of regression analysis and know what to do if the assumptions are violated.
7- You will need to make inferences about the slope and correlation coefficient and estimating mean values and predict individual values.
8- Recommend actions to fortify the business’s position and increase its competitiveness.
Case Study Structure
A case study typically has four main sections, these are:
1- Introduction (500 words): Provide some background to the case and the business, setting out the reasons for studying the business and the aims and objectives intended.
2- Presentation and Investigation of the case (1500words): Investigate the different aspects of the business, provide valid data and analyze the business indicators.
3- Forecasting (1000 words): Present predictions using the notions as specified in the module handbook.
4- Recommendations (500 words): Based on the findings, present suggestions for future action.
PowerPoint Presentation (apx. 1000 words)
The purpose of the presentation is to present your findings and recommendations. Your presentation should consider the following within a maximum of 10-15 minute time frame.
(1) Title and short introduction (2) Background & Logical Context (3) Relevant quantitative information (4) Forecasts
(5) Recommendations and decision to be made.
