The submission is in the form of a Report and Brochure. Write in a concise, formal business style using Font: Times New Roman, Font Size: 12, Line Space: 1.50, Font Colour: Black. Please make sure you provide a cover page with your assignment brief. You are required to make use of headings, paragraphs, and subsections as appropriate in the written report and all your work must be supported with research, including case laws, and referenced using the Harvard referencing system. Please make sure the similarity does not exceed the threshold of 20% as assignments with higher similarity may be blocked. Please also provide a bibliography using the Harvard referencing system. The recommended word limit is between 3000–5000 words, although you will not be penalized for exceeding the total word limit.
Brochure Requirements:
When creating a brochure, it is important to keep the information short and focused on the main points. Use catchy titles, subheadings, and bullet points to make it easy to understand.

You are working as a Legal Assistant in a law firm, Irwin Mitchell Solicitors, which advises new start- up companies on the legal systems and key legislation that they are required to know and apply. You have been asked to write a report on the nature of law for new companies to support the business advice and guidance provided.

Saunders is an aspiring entrepreneur and would like your advice on how different types of organisations are legally formed, managed, and funded. He is attending the Small Business Expo 2023 conference being held in London in which you as a Paralegal, and have been invited to attend as a guest speaker. However, you will only have to prepare a brochure.

Explore the different options to legally set up a business in the UK such as sole trader, partnership, and limited company recommending the best fit for future goals.(4) Also, analyse their advantages and disadvantages .
Explore how above-mentioned business organisations are managed and how various businesses types can raise finance to fund their operations in the UK. (5)

Scenario 3
Thompson is a German citizen who has been running a Dormitory Hostel in South – West London for EU students near to his home. A new owner Martin of the next-door butcher shop often keeps his bins open in the back garden. That has been causing huge nuisance to Hostel residents.
Thompson called Martin several times but no action. Thompson contacted a local Solicitor, but they advised Thompson to attend in person and pay consultation fees £500.00 + VAT. They discussed about court proceeding which may take 3-6 months, proceeding and Hearing fees etc.
Thompson got a new contract to supply freshly prepared breakfast, lunch and afternoon tea for Investment Bank in London Bridge. Thompson is too busy to miss even a single shift. One mistaken step may damage his businesses as there are other competitors.
Thompson is also scared of court for complications, fees and time. Simultaneously, Thompson needs to resolve his Hostel crisis.
You are required to

Also, in a table, compare and contrast merits and demerits of alternative methods of dispute resolution.

The UK legal system is built on a blend of legal sources that together create the framework every business must follow. This report explains the three main sources of English law – Legislation, Common Law, and European & International Influence – and how they affect your start-up.
1. Legislation – Laws Created by Parliament
The first and most direct source of law is legislation , also known as statute law . This is law written and passed by UK Parliament . It includes Acts of Parliament like the Companies Act 2006 and the Employment Rights Act 1996 – both very important for start-ups.
For example, if you`re setting up a limited company, the Companies Act 2006 tells you exactly how to register, how many directors you need, and what your legal duties are. It ensures businesses are properly formed and remain transparent.
