Task Requirement

Overview

Global Banking School (GBS) is a fast-growing higher education provider in the United Kingdom (UK). Currently, GBS has eight campuses across four cities. Due to its popularity and successful operations, GBS is planning to open a new campus, in a new city, Liverpool.

GBS has now decided to hire you as a project manager for its new project in Liverpool.

For the summative assignment, students are required to prepare a 3000-word portfolio containing three elements:

  • a 2000-word project plan (LO 1, 2, 4, 5)
  • a 500-word mid-way progress report (LO 2, 3)
  • a poster on the benefits of studying at GBS with explanatory commentary (500 words) (LO 3).

Description of the Task

The project plan (2000 words) will consist of:

  • A statement of work (SoW) containing clear project objectives devised using SMART goals, and an outline and justification of the project management methodology / methodologies used.
    • A risk assessment featuring strategies for mitigation.
    • A project timetable presented in the form of a GANTT chart / milestone chart.

    The mid-way progress report (500 words) will consist of:An evaluation of the progress of the project according to the SMART goals and timetable set out in the project plan. An updated project timetable in the form of a Gantt chart, featuring any necessary amendments.

    A reflection on the skills required to complete the project.

    The poster and accompanying commentary (500 words) will consist of:

  • A completed poster advertising the benefits of studying at GBS to adult learners.

  • Accompanying commentary which explains how the poster meets the objectives set out in the project plan.

You must reference all information used in the presentation and the report, using the Harvard Referencing Guide. You are required to include a reference list at the end of the report arranged in alphabetical order irrespective of the sources.

Your work will be assessed on the extent to which it demonstrates your achievement of the stated learning outcomes for this assignment (see above) and against other key criteria, as defined in the University’s institutional grading descriptors. If it is appropriate to the format of your assignment and your subject area, a proportion of your marks will also depend upon your use of academic referencing conventions.

This assignment will be marked according to the grading descriptors for Level 5.

In accordance with the FHEQ, at the end of Level 5 students will be expected to have a sound knowledge of the basic underlying concepts and principles of a subject, and an ability to evaluate and interpret these within the context of that area of study.
