Explain modern web development technologies such as SOL, Java, JavaScript, C#, C++, Python, PHP, Ruby on Rails and then evaluate how these technologies and frameworks have transformed traditional website design, functionality and management

Task 1

A. Explain modern web development technologies  such as SOL, Java, JavaScript, C#, C++, Python, PHP, Ruby on Rails and then evaluate how these  technologies and frameworks have transformed traditional website design, functionality and management.

SQL

SQL databases use structured query language (SQL) to define and manipulate data. SQL is the language with which a coder communicates with a database in order to manipulate the data held within. Because SQL databases all use the same language you must use predefined schemas to determine the structure of your data. Your data must also follow the same structure which can require some upfront preparation.

JavaScript

JavaScript is the most used language by startups for a few reasons. It can be used as both a front-end and back-end programming language. Compared to other languages, JavaScript is comparatively easy-to-learn (although all languages come with some difficulties), and it’s used everywhere in custom web application development. It’s also constantly being updated and expanded with new features.

PHP: The most popular server-side language on the web, PHP is designed to pull and edit information in the database. It most commonly bundled with databases written in the SQL language. PHP was designed strictly for the web and remains one of the most widely used languages around. It’s easy to install and deploy, it is staying competitive with lots of modern frameworks, and is the foundation for a number of content-management systems.

Python: With fewer lines of code, the Python programming language is fast, making it ideal for getting things done quickly. The emphasis is on readability and simplicity, which makes it great for beginners. It’s the oldest of the scripting languages, it is powerful and works well in object-oriented designs. Python-powered sites includes; YouTube, Google, The Washington Post.

Ruby: If you’re expecting complicated logic on the database side of your site, the Ruby programming language is an excellent option. Unlike Python, Ruby is equal parts simplicity and complexity, pairing simple code with more flexibility and extra tools. Ruby bundles the back end with database functionality that PHP and SQL can offer as a pair—it’s great for startups, easy maintenance, and high-traffic demands. It requires developers to use the Ruby on Rails framework, which has vast libraries of code to streamline back-end development. Ruby-powered sites: Hulu, Twitter (originally), Living Social, Basecamp

C#: The language of Microsoft’s .NET Framework—the most popular framework on the web—C# combines productivity and versatility by blending the best aspects of the C and C++ languages. It is excellent for developing Windows applications and can be used to build iOS, Android mobile apps with the help of a cross-platform technology like Xamarin.

C++: Great for complex applications also built on the .NET Framework, the C++ programming language is a difficult but high-powered language that works well for data-heavy sites. Speed is central to C++, and it runs well alongside other languages like Java and Python.

Java: A subset of the C language, Java comes with a huge ecosystem of add-on software components. At its core, Java is a variation of C++ with an easier learning curve, plus, it is platform independent thanks to the Java Virtual Machine. “Compile once, run anywhere” is the motto that belongs to it—and it is excellent for enterprise-level applications, high-traffic sites, and Android apps. Java sites includes; Twitter, Verizon, AT&T, Salesforce

B. Review how website design affects search engine results and also explain how A 1 people can improve their site`s  index value and rank through SEO.

Web design affects user experience, but it also affects search engine rankings. Poor web design practices lower your SEO rank, showing your site lower in search. That has a direct effect on your business`s bottom line, which is why it`s so important to invest in SEO-focused web design from the start.

Step 1 – Improve Your Page Loading Speed

Your page loading time is important for a few reasons.

First of all, if your load speed is too slow, Google will recognize this, and it will harm your ranking. But a slow website will also impact the way your website visitors engage with your pages. As a result, those negative interactions will hurt your ranking too. Look at how abandonment rates increase for websites with long page loading times:

Step – 2 Produce High Quality Content

How often do you update your website?

If you haven’t touched it since the day you built it, you probably don’t have a great SEO ranking right now. To drive more traffic to your website and increase its popularity, you need to give visitors a reason to keep coming back. Your content needs to be high quality, recent, and relevant. Another factor that impacts your SEO ranking is so-called dwell time. This relates to how much time people spend on your website per visit. If your site has fresh, exciting, or newsworthy information, it will keep visitors on your page longer and improve your dwell time.

Optimize Your Images

Pictures and other images are great for your website. But you need to make sure they are optimized properly if you want these images to improve your SEO ranking. I’m referring to factors such as the file format and size. Huge images can slow your page loading time, which, as I’ve said, hurts your ranking. Resize or compress your images to optimize them. You can also use your images to sneak in keywords by naming them accordingly.

Break Up Your Content With Header Tags

Headings are another way to help improve the user experience on your website. They break up the content and make it easier to read or skim. Plus, headers make everything look more appealing, which is always beneficial. If your website is just a wall of text, it’s going to discourage people from spending a long time on it. As a result, your SEO ranking will suffer.

Add More Than Text

The content on your website shouldn’t be only written words. As I said earlier, pictures are great too, but there’s more you can add to improve your SEO ranking. Consider adding other multimedia elements such as videos, slideshows, or audio to your site.

Use Infographics

Infographics pack a huge SEO punch. At Kissmetrics, we used infographics to generate over 2 million visitors and 41,142 backlinks. And our infographic strategy is still flourishing:

For your infographics to be super powerful, you need two things: great design and great content. Don’t overlook the content when creating infographics. Lots of people do, and guess what? Their infographics don’t perform well.

C. Give an explanation of your understanding of the key website design concepts such as design flexibility, performance, functionality, User Experience (UX) and User Interface (UI).

Flexibility: Design is not just about visuals. I strongly believe is it important to carefully plan out the website before putting out the structure of a website before visualizing it, this is also known as information architecture. The first thing that comes to mind not want a website with bogus information. This will totally affect the idea behind the purpose of the website, so we want a website that is flexible, easy to navigate making it a user friendly environment.

Performance: is mainly refers to the seed in which web pages are downloaded and displayed on user’s web browser. Faster website download speeds have shown to increase visitor retention and loyalty and user satisfaction especially by user with slow internet connection and those on mobile devices.

Functionality: the functionality of a website design is simply what the website can do and how it works. It encompasses everything from the actions a user perform to dynamic content and Interactivity. Before the website is written, designed or coded, there should be a clear planning of the features it will offer. Providing the right functionality is crucial to the success of a website.

User Interface: is a specialization of a web design that deals with the controls people use to interact with a website or app, this includes the button, displays and gesture controls. What user actually sees when they interact with the product, from color schemes to typography, ui is responsible for the product’s look and feel.

User’s Experience:

User Experience Design (UXD or UED) is a design process whose sole objective is to design a system that offers a great experience to its users. Thus UXD embraces the theories of a number of disciplines such as user interface design, usability, accessibility, information architecture, and Human Computer Interaction

What are the most important things to understand throughout a UX design process?

UX Principles

Meet the users` needs. The foremost of all UX design principles is to focus on users throughout the design process.

  • Know where you are in the design process.
  • Have a clear hierarchy.
  • Keep it consistent.
  • Understand accessibility.
  • Context is key.
  • Usability first.
  • Less is more.

D. Provide  an  evaluation  of  the  available  web  design  tools  and  techniques including  HTML, CSS, and JavaScript to design and develop a custom-built website for A 1 people. Compare these with cloud website development tools.

Bootstrap

Bootstrap (opens in new tab) is certainly not a new tool, but it has revolutionized development and continues to shape how we build stuff on the web. Features to look out for responsive containers that are filled up to a certain breakpoint, and responsive. Row-cols classes for specifying the number of columns across breakpoints efficiently.

Bootstrap also has its own open-source icon library, Bootstrap Icons (opens in new tab), that is designed to work with Bootstrap components.

Web development tools has long since left the grounds of having to individually code pages in HTML/CSS, JavaScript, php or other internet programming language. Using just notepad or simply code-friendly text editor. These days, cloud development platforms are already available to help with every part of the process, from coding to web design itself. The result is the ability to build and host your own website the way you want it to look. One could always just use an off the shelf CMS or the best website builder to simplify the design process, but both of these offer a degree of limitation that may suit general consumers rather than the most creative web developers and designers. For standalone website, freedom to code and build your own design can reap rewards not just in terms of aesthetics but also in terms of security, as you are not only a risk of being hacked, but may force you to subscribe to website monitoring or website defacement service to monitor for webpage changes and be alerted if or when they are. With drag and drop tools combined with coding shortcuts, website development has come a very long way since the turn of the 21 st century.

E. Evaluate tools available to create multimedia content for websites and explain regulatory and  ethical  considerations   in  creating  multimedia  content  for websites.

Participant privacy, confidentiality and anonymity. Participant privacy, confidentiality and anonymity are the most commonly reported ethical concerns. These concerns are applicable to internet research across all disciplines, not just those involving families and children.

Task 2

A. You are called in to Robert`s  pod and he is gave you a brief on what A4people shareholders want to have in its website and what are the user expectations from the new website.  He has asked you to create a design document  for multipage A4people website.

B. The design document was accepted at the board. Now you are asked to follow the design document to create the multipage A4people website.
